DRY CREEK FARM
Breeding Quality Miniature Zebu Cattle Since 2002
There is nothing cuter than a newborn Zebu!!

People always ask us: "What are those Zebus good
for, anyway?"  And I always stutter and stammer about
how they are gentle show animals for children, or good
buckers in junior rodeos, or they can help you get an
ag exemption for your property.  Sometimes I will tell
people how their milk is high in butterfat, or that they
are efficient converters of grass, growing lean beef.
Sometimes I go with the petting zoo angle.   All of
these things are true....but not why I raise zebus.  I was
talking to a longhorn breeder recently, and he gave me
the answer I was looking for....when asked why he
raised longhorns, (since no one really eats them) he
replied:   "When I look out in my field, I see a piece of
living history....and, darn it, they are just so dang pretty!"
So there is my answer:  When I look in my field, I see
thousands of years of history....a breed created by God,
not manipulated by man.  They are domesticated by
man, able to walk on a lead or pull a wagon, but when
not directed by man, they return to their original bovine
nature:  butting and dancing and playing and running,
so unlike their European cousins.  They come when I
call and jockey for position around me, begging for
treats.  They are the most wonderful livestock pets.
And darn it, they are just so dang pretty out in that field!
